Sustenir Hosts Special Event to Introduce Singapore’s First Strawberries and New R&D Lab

On June 20, 2018, Sustenir Agriculture made history by becoming the first indoor farm to commercially grow strawberries in Singapore.

Using its patented hydroponic urban farming system, Sustenir optimises the growing conditions for all its crops to produce 100 percent clean fruits and vegetables free of any soil, pesticides or outdoor pollution.

Speaking at the event, Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade & Industry, said, “These milestones are proof of Sustenir’s progress as it builds up its urban farming expertise and transforms the way crops are grown in Singapore.”

Together with the launch of the Splendid Strawberries, Sustenir also unveiled its new R&D lab, located at JTC LaunchPad @ one-north which will be used to accelerate Sustenir’s research into the best produce to supply market to market.

The R&D lab will also explore more efficient and sustainable agri-tech solutions, targeting local farming obstacles such as land scarcity and unsuitable climates for vegetation to ensure consumers across the world can still enjoy the fresh produce they love while minimising its impact on the environment.
